Jay Mollica

I transform how global cultural institutions connect with audiences through technology. For over a decade, I've led digital innovation at organizations including Pérez Art Museum Miami, California Academy of Sciences, and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

At PAMM, I founded and directed the digital engagement department, orchestrating comprehensive digital transformation—from collection digitization and multilingual content strategy to open access programs and new curatorial approaches for the digital age. At SFMOMA and the California Academy of Sciences, I spearheaded experiments in art and technology while modernizing digital platforms.

My work has been recognized by The New York Times, The Today Show, PBS, and others. In 2018, I won the Webby Award for Best App from a Cultural Institution for Send Me SFMOMA. I was profiled in Internet_Art: From the Birth of the Web to the Rise of NFTs (Phaidon, 2023) for my contributions to museums and technology.

I hold a Master's degree in Interactive Media Art from New York University and write about museums, technology, design, and architecture.
